There's Sheila and Martin newly retired and feeling lost in their lives, Louise who feels so fed up with everything in her life right now, but who on the face of things has everything, but does she really。 Her newly made friend Jameela, who struck up a friendship with Louise when she bought her cross trainer from her, people think she has it all right now, but does she? She seems to alienate her sister and her family, her boyfriend walked out on her and worse still, the one thing she really wants, a baby and Becky a single mum who takes a big step in organising the pottery classes, with help from Sasha, who will be taking the pottery classes。Very soon everyone is immersed in their pottery efforts and also they find themselves opening up to each other, finding out that they all have something that they need to open up about, something more in common than living on the same estate。 Some have more troubles than others, but will they be able to pull together as a community。 This book covers so many different emotions and individual choices that people have to make in their lives, (adultery, friendships, betrayal, rivalry to name a few) but that's real life and it happens。 I loved the camaraderie and friendships between everyone in this book, obviously there is always someone that you can't like, but that's what makes a good storyline in my opinion。 A truly enjoyable read and I would love to meet these characters again in another book and see what life has thrown at them。 A five star read from me。Why throw a party when you can have more fun throwing a pot!! 。。。more
Anne,
When Louise, Jameela and Sheila sign up to a pottery class, with some trepidation, they could not have imagined the effect it would have on their lives。 Becky, manager of the community centre within the Inventor’s Housing Estate, can remember when the centre was alive and kicking and her Mum was the cleaner there。 Her Mum is no longer here but the community centre holds a special place in Becky’s heart as she can imagine her Mun there and close to her。 Determined to create a venue the residents When Louise, Jameela and Sheila sign up to a pottery class, with some trepidation, they could not have imagined the effect it would have on their lives。 Becky, manager of the community centre within the Inventor’s Housing Estate, can remember when the centre was alive and kicking and her Mum was the cleaner there。 Her Mum is no longer here but the community centre holds a special place in Becky’s heart as she can imagine her Mun there and close to her。 Determined to create a venue the residents can use and enjoy, Becky applies for funding from the council and sets up and advertises pottery classes in the hope of resurrecting some community spirit。This is the story of four women who are ‘thrown’ together and fire up friendships, which are as soft and malleable as the clay in their hands at first but quickly become solid and dependable like the bowls and vases they create。 Each of the women has their own story, issues and problems but with the friendship and support of their newfound friends, life takes a new positive direction。This was a lovely book to read which highlighted the value of friendship and community。 It was well written, flowed well and was descriptive and informative relating to the creating pottery process。 It was sad in places, it was funny in places and the characters were relatable and well described。An enjoyable book which I recommend。Thank you to the publishers who supplied an ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
